Just can’t stop listening to this perfect performance. The power in his voice at the end is magnificent

OMG she totally says “Oh, God” just after she finishes. Has anyone noticed this? Does anyone know if I am right or wrong or any backstory of this performance? It's always so exciting to discover a video of Vissi d'arte being sung well because there are just so many terrible performances. It is either all technique and no pathos or all pathos and no technique. More often, it’s neither. But when you find a video of a singer who manages to make it all come together like this, so effortlessly, it’s really just unbelievable. Thank you for posting this. I can’t believe I’ve never heard of her.

An amazing piece of music.

I'm dumbfounded that the girl walks indifferently off the stage before he's even done singing- even if it's part of the story! If he sang that song to me, in that gorgeous uniform, I 'd be a puddle of melted butter!! Beautifully phrased, perfectly sung! I first heard this aria on CD I recently purchased. Now I'm hooked for good.❤❤😊

Paul Scofield was such a wonderful actor. Just to hear him in this is breathtaking.

He’s been a favorite of mine for 50 (gulp) years now, starting with a recording of Tales of Hoffmann opposite Beverly Sills and Norman Treigle. His piano accompanied performance of Danny Boy is my favorite rendition of that lovely song.

This is one of my most favourite works, like many of us it was brought to our ears by the recording of Dawn Upshaw, shortly after I became aware of the early recording by Stefania Woytowicz. That recording truly opened my ears to the dialogue, with the raw emotion of the words being sung by someone who knows the language and truly understands what is written, something I always felt was lacked in Dawn Upshaws rendition. While this is the fist time I have heard it performed by Rebecca Evans, it is also the only time apart from Stefania where my skin has crawled, I guess it must have something to do with her being Welsh, a people who can sing in the Minor keys naturally.

This is the best performance of this piece that I've had the pleasure of hearing. Theres a single note that doesn't ring out quite as clearly or as high a tenor timbre, but this performance is perfect. Absolutely AMAZING. He may have a record there for the mist nores, over time, in a run! Not even my previous favorite hit that run!❤ Bravo, sir. You are indeed a Maestro ❤
